Welcome to Geekileaks, a brand new weekly webcrawl where Voyager brings you the coolest, geekiest things scurrying around on the interwebz. Because loving SFF means never having to be bored when you’re procrastinating online. As the Cheshire Cat said to Alice: most everyone’s mad here.
First up, the shortlist for the David Gemmell awards has been announced. Congrats to Voyager author Mark Lawrence for receiving a ‘Best Novel’ nomination for King of Thorns!
House of Geekery has a great post about the awesome authors that were at this year’s Supanova Perth. Blogger, Appa the Gypsy, was a particular fan of our beloved Kylie Chan:
‘During an Epic Fantasy discussion, the authors were giving detailed and complex answers to a rather complex question regarding world building, and Kylie leaned over to her microphone when it was her turn, and replied “No,” and then sat back again.’
Wish you could still fit into your old Snow White costume, do you? Still know all the lyrics to ‘Friend Like Me’, eh? You’ve got nothing on these hardcore Disney fans
If you’re one of those people that go around telling others how BUSY you are, Neil Gaiman’s uber-productive year will shame you just a little bit.
How much do you love this new cover for The Rook?
We love this thoughtful piece on Strong Female Characters. Sherlock Holmes gets to be brilliant, solitary, neurotic and rude. Female characters get to be Strong.
And lastly, a crocodile in Western Australia has been caught dragging a fully grown cow into the water. Because sometimes, only steak will do.
Have a great week, everyone.
