The Lord of the Rings
A quick reminder that the extended edition of The Two Towers goes on sale in Australia tomorrow (18th). But I know you all have it pre-ordered like me, right?
So on to actual news! AICN has some goss on Return of the King.

Harry Potter 3
The trailer for HPatPoA went up last week. Click here to download it. They've also launched the azkaban.warnerbros.com site with a have you seen this wizard poster. A bit disconcerting but cool all the same! Quick tip: The Leaky Cauldron is a great spot for stills and screen grabs for PoA. PoA may not be out yet but that doesn't stop speculation as to who will play Cho Chang in Goblet of Fire. Read all about it on DarkHorizons.

  • SciFiWire has some news on Alien vs. Predator
  • Also from SciFiWire comes the news that MGM has bought a script for a spoof on the The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter franchises.
  • TheForce.net has a new spoiler (unconfirmed) on EpIII...

Farscape
According to SyFyPortal it is possible that a Farscape miniseries will be produced. Unconfirmed rumours at this stage but apparently studio space has been reserved in Sydney.

Movie News

  • SciFiWire has some news about the follow-up to Underworld, Moviehole has an interview with Len Wiseman.
  • The third installment in the Matrix trilogy grossed $43.1 (US) million in its first day. Check it out at SciFiWire.
  • AICN reports that a German Star Trek/Wars parody will be released next year.
  • The trailer for Troy is now available for download from Warner.
  • AICN has some RotK gossip and spoilers (including an excerpt from an email from Peter Jackson.)

Harry Potter wins injunction
The ban on Tanya Grotter and the Magic Double Bass has been upheld in the Dutch courts on the grounds that it is "too similar in many essential aspects to be regarded as an independent creation". Read the full article at SciFiWire.

The Matrix Revolutions
If you keep even a vague eye on the media you'll know that the third (and final) installment of The Matrix trilogy premiered last night at the Opera House. Click here to check it out on SMH and here to read about in on News.com.au. The Matirx Revolutions is in cinemas on Thursday (6th). AICN has a review (and spoilers), Cinemovies.fr has some clips and SciFiWire talks about rain.

NZ DVDs
This just in for our friends in NZ. According to AICN-D a new law has been passed banning the sale of DVDs until 9 months after their international cinema release. That doesn't mean you can't order them in from OS, though... Good for cinemas, bad for the DVD industry... A full explanation is up at NZoom.com.

Slaying in the early 20th Century
Sotheby's have recently sold a vampire slaying kit (complete with wooden stake) for $12,000. Read on at SciFiWire.

Quidditch World Cup
EA has released a game based on J.K. Rowling's quidditch, according to SciFiWire. The game is available for PS2, X-Box, GameCube, GameBoy Advance and PC

  • The new poster for Spidey-2 is up on Sony's Spider-Man 2 website.
  • The Lemony Snicket movie is progressing nicely... More details at HollywoodReporter.com
  • Bond casting rumours are becoming an international contact sport. Hugh Jackman's publicist denies that he's up for the role (FilmStew.com).
  • There are FX shots up at StarshipTroopers2.net
  • Orlando Bloom Multimedia has posted updates on Troy and The Return of the King to Comingsoon.net
  • More Lara Croft movies aren't completely out of the question according to SciFiWire.
  • The Indiana Jones DVD trilogy has set sales records (just imagine what might happen if the original Star Wars movies are ever released!!!). Read on at SciFiWire.
