Doctor Who returns
Exciting news for Doctor Who fans... A new series is now being developed by BBC1. It will be written by Russell T Davies (Queer As Folk). Click here to read the full article on the Telegraph website or here to read about it on the BBC site.

Orson Welles and Batman
Strange but true, it seems that Orson Welles seriously considered making a Batman movie in the 1940s. It even went so far as production designs, casting photos and an early script. Click here to read all about it on ComicBookResources.com

LXG Lawsuit
Fox has been sued over their new film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. A Hollywood producer (Martin Poll) and screenwriter (Larry Cohen) are suing for damages and copyright infringement. Fox cite Alan Moore’s graphic novel of the same name as the origin of the movie. Full details at SFGate.com.

Watchmen
In other Alan Moore news (it seems to be a big week for graphic novel news!), one of the writers on X-Men, David Hayter, will be making his debut as director of a feature film with Moore's Watchmen. Check it out at SciFiWire.

The Brothers Grimm
Also from SciFiWire comes the news that Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded) will be playing the evil queen, starring in The Brothers Grimm, alongside Heath Ledger and Matt Damon. The movie is filming now in Prague.

Return of the King trailer
Stay tuned! The new trailer for Return of the King will be revealed on the official website on the 29th of September (presumably that means the 30th for us here in Australia).

Enterprise theme
The controversial theme song for Enterprise is doing the rounds again with the suggestion that the current theme (Faith of the Heart) may be ditched for something that sounds more traditional. Read on at ebroadcast.com.au.

Troy
DarkHorizons has some great shots up of the set of Troy that give you a bit of a feel for the scope of the movie. They state that 1100 extras have been hired...

King Kong
Aussie actress Naomie Watts is the favourite to play Ann Darrow in King Kong according to TheHollywoodReporter.com. Peter Jackson will commence work on the movie when he completes The Return of the King.

New Lost in Space TV series
SciFiWire reports that there just might be a remake of Lost in Space back on our screens in the not so distant future. Several networks have had a "strong response" to the idea. Read the full article here

MOVIE ROUND-UP

Spider-Man 2 is coming along nicely. SciFiWire reports that Tobey Maguire is back in fine form after his stint as a jockey in the movie Seabiscuit.

Also from SciFiWire is the news that EpIII has finished shooting in Sydney’s Fox Studios, five days ahead of schedule. It’s looking good for a release in 2005. Keep an eye on TheForce.net for the latest goss on EpIII.

DigitalBits also has a new rumour on the long-awaited DVD release of the original Star Wars trilogy. The latest is that Lucasfilm is so happy with the DVD format used for Indy (released in Australia on the 23rd of October) that they’re seriously considering it for Star Wars, too.

There are a swag of fairy-tale fantasy movies in the pipeline with both Disney and Miramax getting in on the action. The first to hit our screens will be Ella Enchanted, based on the book by Gail Levin. Check it out at SciFiWire.

The latest Peter Pan remake is looking dark. Check out the official site gallery for pics. Interestingly a boy has been cast in the title role for the first time…

Rumours abound that the WB are interested in getting a new Superman project up off the ground quick smart to rival the next Batman movie. There is also conjecture at Darkhorizons that Alicia Silverstone is up for the lead role in the new Supergirl movie. See Supermanhomepage for more info.

While you’re at DarkHorizons check this out. Children of the 80s may well be either thrilled or horrified to learn that a sequel to The Lost Boys is also on the cards at WB.

CONSOLE NEWS

Good news for console gamers with THQ announcing plans to release a game based on Fred, Daphne, Scoobey and the gang. Check it out at SciFiWire.

A stack of info here on the upcoming Battlestar Gallactica console game, too.

TV NEWS

Trek Today has a host of spoilers and news for the third season of Enterprise.

Filmforce IGN has an interview with Babylon 5’s Jerry Doyle about a possible revival.

The marketing machine for Angel is well and truly in mode in preparation for the October 1 start of the new season in the US. Start by reading the letter from Joss at TheWB.com. They also have a trailer for the season here (haven’t seen it yet because the firewall won’t let it through, but I doubt there are spoilers… Check it out at your own risk, though).

Comics Continuum have a letter from Angel (WB are into letters at the moment) and some stills. Poor Fred looks a bit lonely in the new cast shot as the only girl…

Teenhollywood reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed on to play Buffy in two episodes for the upcoming season so it's a fair bet that Fred will have at least some female companionship.

Old news now, but there is a frank interview with Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) about leaving Buffyverse at the Boston Herald website. At this stage she is unaware of any plans to bring Cordy back from the coma she was in when we last saw her.
