| INTRODUCTION TO AUTHOR NOTES
& GLOSSARIES |
Before setting out to write an epic novel there is an epic amount of
research to be done. In the pursuit of ideas I manage to record mountains
of interesting facts and theories, and to make sense of these notes,
I construct glossaries and all sorts of charts and breakdowns.
During a meeting with the web creators at HarperCollins it occurred
to me that these glossaries of terms and different charts, could serve
as a kind of handbook for my novels, something to reference when you
don't understand a theory or a term used. Many of my favourite terms
are esoteric in origin and can't be found in the good old Oxford Dictionary.
Obviously I will not bore you with all my weird and wild discoveries,
just those that I feel might be helpful to better understanding my books.
I have listed these glossaries, notes and charts under the names of
the books they were associated with, for easy reference. If you don't
find an answer to your question under the author notes for the book
you're reading, then feel free to post a message on the message
board, or email me if the subject requires a private response.
